Confinement?
Day 2 of confinement, this was what my MIL said to me “When I was doing confinement, I was very “guai”, totally unlike you” …..
Me : *roll eyes*
That was because she caught me drinking plain water and was running around the house without my bedroom slippers. There are more notti stuff that I did that she was unaware… Here they are:
P/s : Who on earth came up with all these confinement rules? The Malays don’t do confinement, much less the angmohs, and they are all still alive and kicking right? MAYBE, when I’m older or (if really) ailments start kicking in, I will regret, but as of now… HECK WITH CONFINEMENT. There are friends and relatives whom I known who stuck to strict confinement rules but are forever falling sick now too…
Whatever la… I just cannot take it!! And Thank god for my mum, who made this sooo much easier for me! =)
Notti, notti me broke these rules (and still counting)..
1) Played 2 rounds of mahjong (day 3)
2) Drinking plain boiled water (Like forever.. cannot stand the freaking red dates tea + its giving me constipation) I wonder who says we can’t take plain water, my gynae gave me the go-ahead.
3) Took large sips of coke and ice lemon tea and Peel Fresh POWERBERRIES (E, I really can go toilet better…)
4) Sneaked out (mummy closed both eyes) to catch Transformers at Iluma on Sat (I tell you, the seats at the cinema, FilmGarde is darn shiok, but I still got butt-ache, due to the length of the movie) =P
5) Bathe and wash hair daily (with herbs la.. if this helps)
6) On the fan / aircon 24×7
7) Ate KFC for dinner ytd (considered?)
Still counting…..
I’ve been soooo notti….

Updates!
It has been 2 weeks since I gave birth. Looking back, this journey has been incredibly amazing. From slowly counting down to his arrival week by week, to feeling him sleep snuggly in my arms – the feeling is just sooo surreal but wonderful.
First week of confinement was hard to pass… was struggling to understand what my precious wants when he cries, handling the roller coaster of emotions all new mums have to go through, missing my dogs / wondering what are they doing now etc, trying to get my freaking milk to flow like a tap (still unsuccessful), coping with engorgement etc. Was very lucky to have the support of B and mum.
2nd week was easier, I learnt to nap whenever I can – away from the baby (with mum around of cos’) – recharge for my “night duty”. Kyra has been a great help too, alerting us each time baby cries. She is soo sweet.
I still have a lot to learn from my mum. She’s been the best help anyone can ever ask for – although she does not stay over at night. She does pratically everything for me… from caring for baby, cooking, housework etc. I {heart} my mom. She made my confinement a breeze.
Another 2 weeks of torture before I drown myself in truckload of coke. The longan red date tea (partner with the weather and constipation) is simply driving me crazy! And MIL who forbids me to take plain water is NOT HELPING! Grrrrr …
On a happy note, my tummy wrap (post natal massage) has been quite successful. Tummy’s gone down 2 sizes? I’ve lost track of how much weight I’ve lost (no weighing machine), but its hard to gain weight with all the things a new mum have to do. Plus, I now eat for the sake of eating (and producing breastmilk). Jia you!
The king has awaken….. Time to serve his tea milk break…. Will be back!

False Alarm
My last post on Friday ended with me planning to go shopping before officially entering motherhood. But my plans took a dramatic turn when I saw a blob of blood on my panty liner! I kept telling myself to remain calm as I called the gynae for advise even though I already knew what will her reply be : MONITOR FOR CONTRACTIONS.
B picked me up earlier and we went home to rest. Thinking that Ayden is going to come very soon, we fixed up his cot, went to mum’s place and lugged all the stuff needed for confinement back to SK.
Being super paranoid, I kept waking up in the middle of the night feeling if my waterbag broke =_=” , and make B be on SUPER STANDBY – ie, carry his phone wherever he goes… even when he is playing soccer! =P
Come Saturday, no signs of Ayden coming.
Sunday came, no signs of Ayden too.
Looking forward to Monday as there’s when I will see Dr Wong for the CTG scan where we will get to listen to bb’s heartbeat as well as to monitor my contractions (if any). From there, can tell if bb is in any kind of distress etc.
Me : Strapped up and goofing around.

After 30mins, the husband got bored

The CTG machine and what it is saying :

Conclusion after my checkup:
- My waterlevel is fine
- Ayden’s very active and in good weight
- Little bugger somehow managed to “disengaged” himself – he is not so well engaged as he can still turn left and right =_=”
- I’ve opted to leave it naturally instead of inducing
- EDD still stays at 20th
- I’ve tested negative for the (can’t rem the name) bacteria.. phew!
Next checkup on Sat – where I’ll have to check for dilation (AGAIN!!!) NOOOOOOO!!!!

TGIF
Wah, so bored can? Nothing to do in the office today!
Still cannot plan when to start my M. Leave.. Will be seeing Dr. Wong on Monday for CTG. Hopefully she can give me a clearer indiction of when we can expect to welcome Ayden.
To all my BFF whom I’ve been bugging for advises on where to do my confinement, it is finally confirmed at SengKang - and yes, without the dogs (I’ve to harden my heart to come to this conclusion, the dogs will join me on Fri – Sun)
Meanwhile, I welcome visitors to keep me sane ok?
Since its the GSS and I don’t think I’ll be able to really shop for the next few months, I’ve decided to take leave to go do some last min shopping now!
Woot!
TGIF!

Ready to Pop!
37Weeks 2days Preggie
Went for routine checkup yesterday, and after 1 min of intensive “digging” (pardon the language, but I cannot find a more appropriate word to describe what the gynae was doing), I was 1cm dilated, and Ayden’s already engaged.
Dr Wong predicted that baby will pop in about 1-2 weeks, and I hope it is during the period she is in town!! Demoralised!
I’ve put on 13kgs so far, and 2.8kg is contributed by Ayden.
GBS swap test done, results out in 2 days. I’d better be negative for the bacteria. Bleah! So ma fan.. last time where got such things?!
And ending off with a picture of me now for friends whom have not seen me for the longest time – with my happy belly…

Contractions!
I’ve been getting light Braxton Hicks (fake contractions) on and off, but never one sooo intense yesterday.
I was in the car when my whole tummy contracted so intensely together that they resemble a ball… all concentrated in the middle of my stomach. It felt sooo hard and crampy..
It lasted for a good 30 secs! B was so panicky and asked me to start timing! (WTH? The gynae says he is supposed to time me, but he’s driving la…LOL!! )But that was it.. No more after that one and only wave of contraction.
Is that a sign that we are going to see Ayden very soon!!
